A little truth..

The truth be told, I don't always 'get' my little girl. She is sometimes eccentric and often a little nutty. I am often left in a daze at the things (and ideas) that come out of her mouth, and sometimes she gives me a headache. Let me be more truthful - I'm sometimes a raving lunatic at some of the antics... She does not delight in following others and often likes to break the rules. Her favourite teacher is the one I thought she would like the least (strict, no nonsense, a little scary and not very outwardly nuturing so to speak - she is the headmistress of the church's kindi and is actually an excellent teacher) Today she played with her friend Sarah at our house all afternoon and after they left she complained of being uncomfortable and was pulling at her pants. She proceeded to pull five pairs of knickers off, but still had four more on. A couple of days ago I asked (which I rarely do) what she wanted to eat for dinner and she said 'chooks feet'. (A yum cha delicacy). The picture below is of her play with her doll house and her playmobil figures. She said, 'Look mum, this mummy is a monkey, she's swinging. And she said it was ok for the baby to sit in the high chair and eat her dinner up on the roof.' She played there by herself (Evie and me close by of course) for over an hour and came up with the monkey mum. But what I love most about my little girl is her sweet devotion to her little sister. I've been watching closely their interaction and have been a little wary and somewhat skeptical to say the least, wondering when the bubble will burst and sibling rivalry will come crashing down all around me. However I have to say up until now, Tilly has been an interested, caring, loving and (relatively) gentle older sister. She wasn't quite ready to get out of bed one morning last week and asked could I put Evie in bed beside her so they could read together. Evie generally wakes earlier than Tills and I bring her into the living room to play on the floor while we wait for Tills to rise. Evie niggles and fusses until big sis is up and then is content and happy to have her there until her morning nap time.

They bathe together, in a sense. And Tilly can make her little sis cackle with delight. If she's fussing she'll say things like, 'She needs a feed mum.' 'She's tired mum.' I could write forever of the interaction that happens daily here. However, I won't. But I will say, Thank you Lord for the delight that these two little souls bring into this house! We are truly blessed indeed.

Sisters taking care of each other.

Evie did this this morning. Sitting up like she'd been doing it for a while. She hasn't however.
I found the fully fuctional little people house at St. Vinnies (op shop) for AUD$1!!! No actual little people to put inside it, but the play mobil works just as well. The girls love it.
I must mention that when I was watching Tilly's play, I saw her designated play mobil 'daddy' on the bed. I pointed out the laundry and asked her wouldn't it be a good idea if Daddy got up and did the washing? She put him back on the bed and said, Nope - Daddy's asleep - mummy can do it.... Hmmmmm.
Looking good girls....!!!
Ummm.... feeling a bit out of control mama..... (it ended in tears)
Big sis - what a doll.
Cutie bums.
