Butterfly Encounters
A nice simple visit back to the zoo and straight to the insectarium. The sun was shining in the morning though it didn't last.

Say and do it like this....
Tilly is in the bath relaxing after a big day out. She sometimes gets her face wet and can't abide by it. At which point I must come dry her face with a towel. For the umpteenth time I was called - "MAMA!! I've got a wet face!!" "Do you love? What do you need me to do about it?" (I was over the whole wet face thing at this point) ... To which she replied, "You can say, 'Oh my goodness you have a wet face' and then you can come in here." So I considered myself told......

May shots ~
The power of hungry..
I'm a real purist when it comes to lasagna. Must be beef, with lots of layers and cheesy on top. Well, getting beef here can be a bit of a drama, minced beef that is. They sell neck or shin or something awful like that in the shop here from Warwick, and beef you might use for hotpot (paper thin) but nothing else. To get mince beef I must go by MRT and bus to either 101's Jason's supermarket for fat free (virtually) Australian beef sold by the gram or a car ride to Costco for a MEGA tray of fatty American beef that might just sit in the freezer forever and a day. So the other day I did neither and made Tills her beloved lasagna with red lentils and carrots and a tiny smidge of minced pork that needed to be used from the freezer. Well, next time I won't even bother with the meat. Tilly has requested her lentil lasagna for the last three meals. She had it for lunch today. And then didn't seem to eat anything else after she woke from her nap and by 6pm she was requesting it again. I was going to go to the shops to get something to make for dinner, but when she requested that I thought, why bother. So I cooked half a head of brocolli to go with her lentil lasagna and she devoured the entire meal within ten minutes. She eats well, but has never shoved food in her mouth, meals can take up to an hour sometimes. Without an afternoon snack she was ravenous. While eating she kept saying, 'mmmm mum this is sooooo good,' while nodding her head and looking at me very seriously to make sure I knew just how good it was. She has a good appetite for healthy food. This morning she ate a bowl of (to me) bland bran with a banana. It must resemble something like cardboard with a banana shoved on top, but she loves it. Anyway, after her meal this evening she stood over the sink on her Hello Kitty stool and ate a mango. Summer is here and the fruit is great...

Playgroup at the zoo.
Thursday playgroup and instead of heading straight to the Butterfly habitat (which we love) we followed the crowd on to the train and eventually up to the penguins. It was hot hot hot yesterday and horribly humid. We wandered around all morning and into the afternoon and made it home just before a big downpour. Exhausted, happy kids.
